- PRINCE OF PERSIA THE FORGOTTEN SANDS WII SERIES
At first, the game plays like a by the numbers PoP game with a couple of new powers. Where FS Wii truly sets itself apart is in the platforming. The prince is at least a lot quicker and more responsive than in the Sands trilogy in terms of movement (since I'm also replaying Two Thrones, the difference is kind of jarring actually). It's not as deep as Warrior Within, but you do have some fun moves and powers, and generally combat ends quickly. That aside, the combat is easy enough and well paced. Thankfully, the waggle part can be rectfied by playing the game on Dolphin and emulating the controls. To make matter worse, there was a lot of nunchuk and wiimote waggling involved in the attacks. This is the worst part of every Prince of Persia game and it's no different here. The combat, while better than SoT, is still not very good. The constant banther between the prince and the genie is also amusing sometimes, even if the voice acting and writting aren't exactly stellar.

The story itself isn't spetacular by any means, but the mystery of what hapenned to this kingdom carries you forward while creating a very nice atmosphere. In the story, the Prince (SoT Prince) is accompanied by a genie that promised him his own kingdom and a beautiful princess to boot, so the hero sets out and finds this Kingdom in ruins, afflicted by a mysterious curse. It is also similar to 2008 (and SoT) in terms of atmosphere. It also has the coolest looking Prince (shame they used the ugly ass Prince of the HD version on the box). Aside from PoP 2008, it's the prettiest Prince of Persia to look at. The performance is also very solid, being 60 fps. I'm replaying the game on Dolphin, and in HD it looks very, very nice.

The prince looks great and is full of little animations that bring him to life. While it couldn't match the HD version in technical prowess, it more than makes up for it with a beautiful and varied art direction that resembles the 2008 game in some ways. I don't know how much of that story is true, but you can definitely see some similarities in the art direction. The story about the game is that it was supposed to be a sequel to 2008 that ended up being scrapped and later salvaged by Ubisoft Quebec, a studio created in 2005 to develop low profile projects and assist other studios to develop AC (now they are the lead developer of AC Syndicate). It's a completely different game from the HD version.

Some great mechanics and platforming sections, but the game is too short and there's nothing really new.Įnters the Wii version. It turned out a good game, but a little on the uninspired side. It follows the formula close, but perhaps too closely. Ubi was right to return to SoT mold after 2008. Now, the HD version is a pretty solid effort to be sure.
PRINCE OF PERSIA THE FORGOTTEN SANDS WII SERIES
It finally breaks new grounds and I think it sets the path the series should have followed but never did for some reasons. It was a groundbreaking game for it's time.īut in terms of picking up a Prince of Persia game to play today, I think Forgotten Sands Wii is the best one. Well, I have to say that Sands of Time is probably still my favorite because it laid the foundation for later games and the story/atmosphere is unmatched.

Whaaaat? A low budget effort, movie tie in with waggle controls on the Wii is the best Prince of Persia game? No way!
